The annual CROSS Rugby Legends cycle takes place from the 6th to the 13th of September this year heading from Mizen Head to Malin Head. Once again the event is being headed up by Paul Wallace and his brothers Richard and David with this year’s legends including names such as such as Australian captain Phil Kearns and Springbok World cup winning captain, John Smit, as they help to beat cancer.

In its inaugural event in 2012 Tralee RFC member the Late Donal Walsh joined the legends for a special leg of the tour which is to be replicated this year. Last year many people participated as the Legends dedicated the leg to Donal’s memory by calling the leg CROSS Donal’s Mountain and joined Fionnbar, Donal’s dad, in cycling from Tralee to Moll’s Gap raising over €7,000 on the day.
“Being commited, and some now seriously think I should be, I am undertaking the full cycle from Mizen to Malin this year!” comments Fionnbar, author of the book Donal’s Mountain. “Donal has left an incredible legacy and has indelibly marked the lives of the people he knew and we are delighted to once again have the Walsh family join us for this tribute to their son. Donal, as his mother Elma noted, while he became famous for his stance against youth suicide died as a result of cancer and this cycle is all about getting funding in place for further research to stop this disease.” noted Paul Wallace.
